What is Arthritis?

Arthritis is a disorder best characterized as an inflammation of a joint or joints. There are many types of arthritis, ranging from cartilage wear and tear, to immune system disorders. Together, the many types of arthritis make up the most common chronic illness in the United States.

What causes Arthritis?

Causes of arthritis vary depending about the type of arthritis the sufferer has. They include: genetic factors, age, injury, weight, infections, and autoimmune problems.

How is Arthritis treated?

Once again, treatment is dependent upon which type of arthritis the patient has. However, treatments available include physical therapy, splinting, cold-pack application, paraffin wax dips, anti-inflammatory medications, immune-altering medications, and surgical operations.
