What is Back Pain?

Back pain, also known “dorsalgia,” is pain felt in the back that usually originates from the muscles, nerves, bones, joints or other structures in the spine. There are multiple types of back pain, including lumbar muscle strain, ruptured disc, discogenic back pain, spinal stenosis, lumbar spine arthitis, spondylolisthesis, and osteoporosis.

What causes Back Pain?

Just as there are many types of back pain, there are many causes. They range from physical trauma, age, overuse, muscle strain, weak bones, compression fractures, and pressure on nerve roots.

How is Back Pain treated?

While many forms of back pain are persistent, the pain can be allievated with various and combined methods. Back pain is often treated with ice, heat, medications, and physical therapy.
